If only trees could talk… and describe the hilarious scene of twisting and turning mixed in with profanities that occurred atop the mountain that morning in order to take this photo. Can we please admire how much this man clearly loves me to agree to “make a heart with our hands with the mountains in the backgrounds”. All laughs aside, this image ended up being one of my favorite photographs from our Memorial Day hike!
Memorial Day we woke up early (…earlier than my liking) and drove to the mountains in New Hampshire. We decided to revisit the Lake Solitude Trail on Mount Sunapee (this was one of the first mountains we ever climbed together).
The weather was slightly temperamental, jumping back and forth between wanting to rain and wanting to be sunny, luckily any major rain storms managed to hold off for the duration of our climb.
Rocked my brand new Columbia Sportswear hiking boots and hooded shirt. These boots are so comfortable and breathable, they definitely got broken in on this trip! Also, ignore the dorky socks (totally unfashionable, but I always wear them high to avoid ticks!).
Before reaching the summit, hikers are brought to Lake Solitude. We sat by the lake and ate the peanut butter sandwiches we had made (thankfully, unlike that time at Wachusett Mountain, there were no bees near us this)…
…then we decided to try out our hands as samurai warriors (we’re weird).
After goofing off for a solid ten minutes, we said good-bye to Lake Solitude and headed back up the mountain.
Cheers and selfies from the summit!
How did you spend your Memorial Day weekend?
